GREENPOINT - Greenpoint residents say they're fed up after waiting six years for a waterfront park the city has yet to begin building.

Dewey Thompson, of Community Board 1, says when the area was rezoned in 2005 for luxury towers, the city promised to build the park in a lot, but only when it found a new space for the MTA, which keeps buses parked there.

"What we traded for that rezoning was increased park space and this is one of the key pieces of that agreement," Thompson says.

In a statement, the MTA said: "We're seeing real progress toward being able to vacate this site, but our first priority is - and must be - the safe and efficient operation of the transit system."
