PARK SLOPE - Students at P.S.-M.S. 282 in Park Slope collected more than 500 pairs of shoes and $500 and sent them off to those in need in Japan and Haiti today.

Students say they wanted to take part in the nationwide campaign "Soles for Souls" after seeing the devastation in both countries over the past year and a half.

It took the kids less than two months to collect the shoes.  The shoes are now on their way to Edison, N.J. to be shipped to those who need them the most.

The classroom that donated the most shoes was honored with a pizza party for lunch today.
