WASHINGTON - The GOP-controlled House is pushing a temporary funding bill that would gut President Barack Obama's health care plan.

Congress needs to pass a new spending bill or the U.S. will run out of money, sending the government into a partial shutdown. However, Republicans say they’ll only vote on legislation that involves defunding “Obamacare.”

The White House is promising a veto of the bill, arguing that it would deny health care to millions of Americans.

The two sides have until Sept. 30, the end of the government’s fiscal year, to come to a spending agreement.
