COBBLE HILL - Police say that a pedestrian was struck and killed in Cobble Hill over the weekend.

Officials say the incident occurred at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Clinton Street Sunday night. They say a 66-year-old man was struck by a 2008 Mercedes-Benz while he was crossing the street. The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

News 12 Brooklyn is told that the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene at the time of the accident. Sources say that he was eventually taken away on a stretcher after sustaining some injuries.

Neighbors say that the victim was one of three brothers who owned the Oriental Pastry & Grocery shop in the neighborhood. They say that he and his family live in Bay Ridge, but were well-known among local businesses in Cobble Hill because of its close-knit Middle Eastern community.

Police say that the incident is still under investigation and that no arrests have been made at this time.
