Pedestrians braving gusty winds in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN - Brooklyn residents who ventured outside this morning discovered a stark change from yesterday's spring-like weather, with strong gusts of wind blowing through the area and temperatures dropping into the 40s.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Brooklyn. Wind gusts could reach as high as 50 mph.

Pedestrians in Brooklyn bundled up to face the elements and held on to their hats while going about their business.

Work crews say today's windy weather led to falling debris from a construction site on Noble Street in Greenpoint, which damaged a car parked nearby.

The Department of Housing is urging all businesses and contractors to make sure that loose materials and equipment are secured against the fierce winds.
