BROOKLYN - A petition for a pedestrian and bicycle lane on the Verrazano Bridge has gotten the MTA's attention.

More than 1,000 supporters says a pathway spanning the bridge is the missing link in the Harbor Ring project, a 50-mile circle around the New York City harbor that is both walker and cyclist friendly.

A spokesperson for the MTA says it's considering a feasibility study to see if the walkway is a possibility, but that it wouldn't happen until at least next year.
