BROOKLYN - Dozens of pets received a special blessing today in Carroll Gardens in honor of the patron saint of animals. No pet was off limits for the blessing of the animals, a ceremony that honors St. Francis of Assisi. The event kicked off with singing and prayer and ended with the blessing. Some pet owners tell News 12 Brooklyn that their pets needed to be blessed to cure problems and sickness, while others say that the ceremony was a chance to spend time with family.
