CONEY ISLAND - A proposed substance abuse center in Coney Island is drawing opposition from local residents.

Residents say they are not opposed to the center's mission, but don't want it housed at 3114 Mermaid Ave. Some have expressed concern about the proposed location's proximity to local schools.

A forum about the proposed center will take place Monday evening at United Community Baptist Church.
