Plans for high-rises at Brooklyn Bridge Park rile group

BROOKLYN - Members of a group that was instrumental in plans to build a park at the Brooklyn Bridge say they're angry about changes in the development strategy.

The Cobble Hill Association is fighting a proposal to build five luxury condo hotel towers within the confines of Pier 6 inside Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Another group, the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, says the money made from the million-dollar high-rises will pay for the park. Roy Sloane, the president of the Cobble Hill Association, says plans were already in place to generate money to cover the park's cost by building a community center, pools, more restaurants and other facilities inside the park.
