DUMBO - Changes are coming to the "DUMBO Beach" vacant lot on Jay Street as plans are underway to renovate the lot into a new plaza.

The public plaza will feature granite stone seating, new fencing and greenery, and bike racks. A 15-foot wide land bridge will also be built to connect the plaza to Brooklyn Bridge Park. DUMBO's BID Director Alexandria Sica says having a "serene atmosphere" along the waterfront with its view of the Manhattan skyline will provide balance with the rest of the infrastructure in the neighborhood.

The plaza will be paid for with discretionary funds from Councilman Stephen Levin (D-Brooklyn). It's expected to be completed by the end of the year.
