Playground equipment torched at P.S. 29 in Cobble Hill

COBBLE HILL - A playground jungle gym at P.S. 29 was destroyed early Sunday morning, leaving a mess of melted plastic and charred rubber floors.

Parents say the school plans to replace the equipment, which was only installed at the school several months ago. In addition to the jungle gym being destroyed, signs were defaced and basketball nets were cut.

Police say they will be increasing patrols in the area, as well as at other nearby playgrounds and parks. The fire marshal is currently investigating the incident, but hasn't confirmed it as arson yet.

Anyone with information on the fire is asked to call the NYPD's 76th Precinct at 718-834-3211.
