Police: 1 person shot during drug bust in Bushwick

BUSHWICK - Police say a man was shot today during a drug bust in Bushwick.

Officials say that undercover officers were tracking a suspect along Himrod Street when two pit bulls charged the officers, forcing them to open fire on the dogs.

The 22-year-old suspect was shot in the leg and taken to Kings County Hospital.

Witnesses have identified the suspect as James Austin. Witnesses also say the dogs had never posed a threat when they were leashed.
