Police: 2 people shot near crowded Brownsville pool

BROWNSVILLE - Police say two people were shot this afternoon near the Howard Houses in Brownsville.

Witnesses say that at around 1 p.m., many residents were out soaking up the sun around the pool and in a nearby playground when they heard multiple gunshots close by.

Police say three people were targeted, but only two of them were shot.  They say a 27-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman were taken to Brookdale Hospital.

Witnesses say they believe the victims were housing workers because they were wearing housing worker uniforms.

Police say they have recovered a gun at the scene and that they have a person of interest in custody. They say no arrests have been made.
