Police: 72-year-old shot in face near Miller & Hegeman avenues in East New York

EAST NEW YORK - Police are searching for the suspect who shot a 72-year-old man Tuesday afternoon in East New York.

Authorities say the man was shot in the face near Miller and Hegeman avenues, and immediately rushed to Brookdale Hospital. They say it is unclear whether he was the intended target, but witnesses say they heard yelling before shots rang out.

Residents say gunfire is too common in their neighborhood, prompting them to name their street "Killer Miller."

The victim is currently in stable condition.
