BEDFORD-STUYVESANT - Police say a security guard on the lookout for shoplifters searched two teenage girls as they left a Manhattan lingerie shop Thursday afternoon, discovering that one of them was carrying what appeared to be a fetus in her bag.

Sources tell News 12 that the mother of the fetus is 17-year-old Tiana Rodriguez, of Brooklyn. The other girl is 17-year-old Francis Estevez, of Queens.

An autopsy is being performed on the apparent human remains found inside the bag.

According to sources, the Brooklyn teen is at Bellevue Hospital and the other teen was being questioned at a police precinct.
The girls were shopping at a Victoria's Secret lingerie store in midtown Manhattan, according to police.

New York City police say the girls were arrested Thursday on charges of stolen property and petit larceny for shoplifting. More serious charges could follow.

AP wire services contributed to this report.
