BED-STUY - Police arrested the suspect who tried to rob a hair salon and became involved in a shooting in Bed-Stuy Saturday with a female off-duty police officer.

The NYPD confirms that the off-duty officer, Feris Jones, was at Sabine?s Hallway Beauty Salon at 320 Franklin Ave. when the robber, 19-year-old Winston Cox, entered the store with a gun and demanded money and property from the clients inside.

Jones identified herself as a police officer and demanded the robber drop the weapon, according to police.

Cops say instead of complying, Cox fired at the officer, missing her. Police say she returned fire, hitting him in the right arm and thigh. He fled the scene.

Police say that no one in the store was hurt in the attempted robbery and ensuing gunfire.
