Police ask public to help find attempted rapist in Bed-Stuy

BED-STUY - Police are asking the public to help find a man they have linked to the attempted rape of an elderly woman in Bed-Stuy. Police say the assault happened today around noon in the 77-year-old victim's place of work on Bedford Avenue. The suspect was caught on a security camera, and police say the victim struggled with her attacker before he fled the scene. "It has to be a sick guy or a psycho," says Joaquin Vazquez, who owns a store in the neigborhood. "I don't get it." Officials say the suspect is African-American, in his late 20s, about 5'8" tall and 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue and white button-down shirt and a black jacket. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
