Police: Drunken driver crashes during chase

BROOKLYN - Authorities say an alleged drunken driver caused a crash in Williamsburg Monday night while fleeing from police.

Police say a 34-year-old man driving a Toyota Corolla ran a red light, prompting police officers to follow him. The man refused to stop and ran through another red light at Lee Avenue and Rutledge Street, where police say he crashed into a Lexus and then slammed into the gate of a private house.

Both drivers involved in the accident sustained non-life threatening injuries. Police say the alleged drunken driver is facing DWI and reckless endangerment charges.
