BUSHWICK - Police have confirmed that an emotionally disturbed woman was taken into custody early this morning at the Sumner House on Marcus Garvey Boulevard in Bushwick.

Witnesses say they heard screams and loud noises at around 3 a.m. and saw a young boy run out of the building, screaming that his mother was crazy. Marcus Garvey Boulevard was blocked off by police for several hours, and witnesses reported seeing the bomb squad and SWAT team surround the building.

Witnesses tell News 12 Brooklyn it was a hostage situation, but police would not confirm the report.

Eventually, police broke down the door of one of the apartments and a woman was brought out on a stretcher.
