Police: Girl dies in 3-car crash on Avenue N, Remsen Avenue in Canarsie

BROOKLYN - A child has died in a three-car crash in Canarsie that sent five other people to the hospital and landed one driver in police custody.

The accident occurred on Avenue N and Remsen Avenue at around 5 p.m. Sunday.

Officials say that a 2002 Honda Odyssey minivan traveling southbound on Remsen Avenue struck a 2013 Hyundai Elantra and a 2012 Toyota Siena which were both traveling westbound on  Avenue N.

A 9-year-old passenger of the Hyundai was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Two other occupants of the Hyundai and three occupants of the Toyota were taken to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition.

The driver of Honda Odyssey was taken into custody at the scene. It’s not clear what charges, if any, the driver may face.

The child's identity has not been released.
