Police identify person of interest in connection to Flatbush shooting that injured boy

BROOKLYN - Police have identified a person of interest in connection to a shooting that left two people injured, including a 13-year-old boy.

Authorities say they are interested in speaking with 21-year-old Kareem Potomont. Potomont is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall and about 160 pounds.

Police say Potomont lives on East 18th Street in Prospect Park South, but people in the neighborhood told News 12 they did not know his whereabouts.

The gunfire erupted on Flatbush Avenue on Monday.  Authorities say the 13-year-old boy was shot in the head while walking with his aunt and another young boy. A 24-year-old man was shot in the leg while getting out of a cab.

The boy is still recovering from his injuries at Kings County Hospital, where he's in stable condition. Doctors say the bullet narrowly missed the boy's brain, but his aunt says he can't see out of one eye. The 24-year-old is also recovering at the hospital where he is in serious condition.
