Police increase presence in Park Slope after string of sex assaults

After a string of 10 attempted sexual assaults in the Park Slope and Sunset Park areas, police have increased their presence through a mobile command

PARK SLOPE - After a string of 10 attempted sexual assaults in the Park Slope and Sunset Park areas, police have increased their presence through a mobile command unit.

Local lawmakers have also begun sponsoring self-defense classes for women to protect themselves.

Police say that Federico Chamorro Yax, who was arrested for other sexual assaults in the borough yesterday, has not been connected to the assaults in Park Slope and Sunset Park.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
