EAST NEW YORK - Residents say they're shocked after another possible “knockout” attack yesterday afternoon in East New York.

Police say a 76-year-old woman was walking along Wortman Avenue around 12 p.m. Friday when she was struck in the head and fell to the ground. She was taken to the hospital, where she was treated and released. The suspect immediately fled after the attack.

This assault is the third potential “knockout” reported in East New York in the past week. All of the attacks happened within blocks of each other, but police have yet to confirm if the attacks are connected.

Since early October, seven other suspected “knockout” attacks have been reported in Crown Heights, Midwood and Borough Park. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
