Police investigate motive for day care break-in

FLATBUSH - A police officer opened fire in the basement of a Brooklyn day care Friday, injuring a man who allegedly broke into the building.

Police say an intruder entered Special Moments Daycare in Bushwick and was found in the basement by an officer. The officer shot the suspect in the torso.

Parents were then called to pick their kids up at the 67th Precinct after they were sent to the police station for safety.

The suspect was then taken to Kings County Hospital. Police say they are still investigating the motive for the break-in.
