BROOKLYN - Police are investigating two separate robberies that took place in the borough this past week.

Police say three men entered the Family Dollar on Atlantic Avenue and filled bags with items from the store shelves. They say the suspects threatened an intervening employee with a knife before taking off.

On Friday, police say three men forced their way into an apartment in East New York, one of them armed with a gun. During the encounter, the gun went off, resulting in one of the suspects being shot in the leg.

Terrell Burkett, 20, was taken into custody by police. The other two men got away.
