Police investigate shooting on Rockaway Avenue and Newport Street in Brownsville

Police are still piecing together what happened, but witnesses say a suspect in another car was shooting at the victim in what appeared to be some kind of chase. They say that in the mayhem of the shooting, two other vehicles collided. (3/7/14)

BROOKLYN - Police are investigating a shooting in Brownsville that left one man critically injured with a gunshot wound to the face.

Police say they got a call about a man with a gunshot wound on Rockaway Avenue and Newport Street. They say they found a male victim in his 20s shot in the face, likely while he was driving.

Police are still piecing together what happened, but witnesses say a suspect in another car was shooting at the victim in what appeared to be some kind of chase. They say that in the mayhem of the shooting, two other vehicles collided.

One witness says there was a small child in one of the vehicles that collided.

The victim has been rushed to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition.

No arrests have been made.
