THE BRONX - NYPD officers are investigating a suspicious package that was sent to a Bronx mosque as a hate crime.

Police say a brown envelope was sent to the mosque on 198th Street, and when it was opened a powdery substance and a partially burnt Koran were inside.

The white substance turned out to be ashes for the burned Koran, but police officers didn't take any chances and blocked off the area.

There were also drawings depicting hatred toward Muslims. There's still no word on where the envelope came from.
