BEDFORD-STUYVESANT - Police have released a sketch of a suspect wanted for raping a 29-year-old woman in the back of a car over the weekend in Bed-Stuy and are asking for the public's help in finding him.

According to police, the victim got into the suspect's car, a black SUV with New York plates, at the intersection of Throop and Jefferson avenues late Saturday night. The suspect then stopped somewhere along Monroe Street and raped the victim in the backseat. It is not believed the victim and suspect knew each other.

The suspect is described as a black man in his mid 30s, around 6 feet tall, weighing 160 pounds and with corn row braids. He also has a tattoo under his right eye and spoke with a West Indian accent.

Police stress that this incident is not connected to the pattern of sexual assaults in Park Slope and Sunset Park. Anyone with information on the suspect or the incident in Bed-Stuy is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
