Police are searching for a man they say sexually assaulted a 36-year-old woman and then tried to rape her.

BROOKLYN - Police are searching for a man they say sexually assaulted a 36-year-old woman and then tried to rape her.

They say it happened at around 1 a.m. Friday in Bushwick.

Officials say the man approached the woman from behind along Starr Street near Irving Avenue.

When the victim resisted and screamed for help, a neighbor heard her and yelled out his window, police say. The attacker then ran away.

The woman was taken to Woodhull Hospital and evaluated.
