BROOKLYN - Police mingled with citizens tonight for the annual 'National Night Out' event.

The free event has been sponsored by local police precincts across the five boroughs for the past 27 years. It gives police officers a chance to meet and greet community members while taking a stance against crime and drugs in neighborhoods.

Residents saw safety presentations and spoke with officers about concerns in their neighborhoods.
