BROOKLYN - Police arrested a suspect in connection to an attack and robbery of a Brooklyn teacher.

The suspect, whose name has not been disclosed, was taken into custody less that a week after the incident, which happened Monday morning in front of Good Shepherd Catholic School in Marine Park.

The robbery was captured by a surveillance camera. The video showed the man punching 62-year-old Patricia McGowan in the face. When she fell to the ground, the attacker snatched her purse and fled.

Police say the suspect later returned for McGowan?s car when he realized that the keys to the vehicle were inside the purse. The car was eventually discovered abandoned a few blocks away.

Following the attack, the elderly woman was taken to a community hospital to be treated for bruises to her face. She was later released.

As a result of the attack, McGowan missed the Tuesday graduation ceremony of her eighth-grade students.
