NEW YORK - (AP) - New York City police say they've shot a man whomoved toward them while holding a machete.

Police say someone called them Sunday night to report a mancarrying a knife in Brooklyn. They say two uniformed officersresponded and found an 18-year-old with a machete.

They say the officers identified themselves and asked the mannumerous times to drop the weapon.

They say the man ignored their orders and then approached themin a threatening manner so one of the officers shot him once in aleg.

The man has been taken to a hospital. He's listed in stablecondition.
