Police probe second Greenpoint jewelry store robbery within 2 days

GREENPOINT - Police are investigating after a second Greenpoint jewelry store was robbed yesterday following another robbery of a jewelry store on Monday.

Police say Greenpoint Jewelry on Manhattan Avenue was robbed by a man who entered the store asking to look at a number of pieces and when the owner became distracted by another couple in the store, the man ran off with the jewelry.

The owner, Yura Mesheve, believes the three people were working together.

Police are also investigating a robbery at another jewelry store on Monday that left the store owner shot.

Police say they believe both robberies are unrelated, but ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
