GREENPOINT - Police are questioning a suspect linked to a string of overnight home invasions in Greenpoint and Williamsburg.

According to investigators, the 24-year-old man in custody is believed to be behind at least three different break-ins since about 10 p.m. Monday.

In one of the invasions, police confirm that a man broke into a woman's apartment on Berry Street, punched her in the face and sexually assaulted her.

Police say a man also allegedly tried to rape a woman on Engert Street until her husband chased him away.

In the third incident, a man followed a woman into a Nassau Avenue building. Witnesses tell News 12 he attempted to rape the woman, but that her roommate fought him off by hitting him with a broomstick.

The suspect in custody was found sleeping in a building on Nassau Avenue.
