Police search for driver in deadly Brownsville hit-and-run

BROWNSVILLE - Police are searching for a driver who they say fled the scene of a fatal hit-and-run accident at the corner of Rockaway Parkway and Rutland Avenue.

John Cook, 34, was killed this morning as he tried to cross Rockaway Parkway, landing almost half a block away after the car struck him. Neighbors say deadly hit-and-run accidents happen frequently on Rockaway Parkway.

According to police and witnesses, the suspect was driving a blue Nissan Maxima.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
