Police search for hit-and-run driver

BROOKLYN - Police are searching for a silver car with Pennsylvania license plates that had allegedly mowed down an 88-year-old man in a hit-and-run accident Monday afternoon.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses told police the driver dragged the elderly man for two blocks after ramming into him on the corner of Montague Street and Cadman Plaza West as the victim was crossing the street.

Construction worker Manuel Aguilar, who witnessed the incident, said the elderly man was dangling from the passenger door until he collapsed to the ground as the car sped off.

Anyone with any information on the hit-and-run in downtown Brooklyn is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1800-577-TIPS.
