GRAVESEND - Police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to grab a child as she walked home from school on Wednesday.

Police say the man tried to lure the child near the intersection of Highlawn Avenue and West Seventh Street.

Investigators say just before 3 p.m., the 11-year-old girl was walking home from school when she was approached by a man who grabbed her shoulder and schoolbag.

They say the man told the girl to come with him, but she managed to fight him off.

According to police, the man is between 25 and 30 years old and was wearing a black jacket, black hoodie, gray sweatpants and black sneakers.

Police have been patrolling the vicinity of the incident.
