BROOKLYN - Police are searching for a man who they say attempted to rape a woman in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The attempted rape occurred near Myrtle and Tompkins avenues.

Police say a man followed the 22-year-old victim inside the vestibule of a building shortly before 3 p.m. Monday.

They say the man approached the woman from behind, grabbed her by the neck and pretended he had a gun.  He then allegedly pushed her into the stairwell, tried to take the woman's clothing off and groped her.

When the victim started screaming, the suspect took off.
