Police searching for 2 of 3 robbery suspects involved in robbery of Litan Jewelry in Sunset Park

SUNSET PARK - Police are searching for two of three suspects involved in the robbery of a Sunset Park jewelry store on Monday.

The incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. at Fifth Avenue and 48th Street.

Witnesses say three men were attempting to rob Litan Jewelry when the 54-year-old store owner, known as Raffi, fought back using an umbrella. They say when the owner's son joined the scuffle, a gun went off, striking the owner in the leg.

Witnesses say the shop owner fell to the sidewalk, and the suspects fled while leaving a trail of jewelry behind.

One of the suspects has been taken into custody and has yet to be charged.

The victim was taken to Lutheran Medical Center and is expected to recover.
