Police seek public's help in Williamsburg bias vandalism

BROOKLYN - Local watch groups and police officers are asking for the public's help as they search for the person responsible for defacing a Williamsburg building with swastikas.

Officials say several swastikas were found on the walls of an elevator at 222 Penn St. Residents say it's disturbing to find the swastikas in a predominantly Jewish building.

The NYPD's Hate Crimes Unit was also called to Williamsburg earlier this month when a swastika was drawn on the wall of another building a few blocks away.

Anyone with information on the incidents is urged to call the Williamsburg Shomrim Patrol's 24-hour hotline at 718-237-0202.
