BROOKLYN - (AP) - Police officials say an officer shot and woundeda man in Brooklyn late Friday after he ignored orders to drop aknife.

The suspect was in stable condition at Kings County Hospital.

The NYPD says three officers had responded to a 911 call andwere interviewing a man who said he was being chased when thesuspect appeared with a knife.

One of the officers tried subduing the man with a pepper spray,but police say the man kept coming. One of the officers then fireda single shot.

Authorities didn't immediately release the suspect's name.
