Police say a suspect tried to rob an MTA clerk before setting fire to the MTA booth.

BROOKLYN - Police say a suspect tried to rob an MTA clerk before setting fire to the MTA booth.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. Saturday on the 3 line at Nostrand Avenue.

Officials say the suspect poured gasoline into the booth opening, and demanded cash from the clerk.

When the clerk didn't hand over the money, the suspect set a cloth on fire and fled.

Officials say the clerk was not injured.
