(AP) - A teenager identified through photos taken of him at a house party over the July 4 weekend was arrested yesterday in the stabbing

NEW YORK - (AP) - A teenager identified through photos taken of him at a house party over the July 4 weekend was arrested yesterday in the stabbing death of an emergency medical technician on the street outside, police said.

Alexander Hernandez, 19, was arrested on charges of murder andcriminal possession of a weapon, police said.

Someone who took photos at the party heard a description of thestabbing suspect, saw a person in the photos who matched thatdescription and went by the name Alex and then alerted police,Detective William Winning said.

Hernandez was in custody early today and couldn't be reachedfor comment. A woman who answered the phone at a Brooklyn homenumber listed for him said he didn't live there.

Police responding to a call on July 3 found 20-year-old KelvinBuggs on the street just after 3 a.m. Buggs had been slashed in theneck and shoulder. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Buggs, who was off duty when he was killed, had joined the ranksof the city's EMTs last fall. He worked a second job to support hisgirlfriend and 2-year-old daughter, relatives said.
