EAST NEW YORK - A 41-year-old woman was assaulted in broad daylight in East New York Monday in what could be the latest victim of the ‘knockout game.’

Police say a woman was struck by a man who quickly fled the scene. A suspect in connection with the crime is currently in custody.

The string of attacks has been linked to a nationwide trend where people are assaulting strangers with the intent of knocking them unconscious.

Community advocates say Brooklyn residents should remain vigilant on the street and report any suspicious behavior.

Police have not released any details about the suspect in custody.
