Police: Woman set aflame inside elevator in Prospect Heights

PROSPECT HEIGHTS - Police are investigating after they say a woman was set aflame inside an elevator in a Prospect Heights building this afternoon.

Officials say firefighters responded to the building at 203 Underhill Ave. around 5 p.m. this evening and while rescuing an elderly woman, they discovered her body inside an elevator.

Police say they believe the woman was ambushed by a man, doused with an accelerant and set aflame inside the elevator.

Investigators say they have not identified the victim or who may have attacked her.
