BROOKLYN - Will Brooklyn?s borough president one day be mayor of NYC?

The latest NY1-Marist Poll puts borough President Marty Markowitz as a top contender for the Democratic mayoral primary, behind NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn.

But with a margin of error of 5 percentage points, statistically, support for the two is about the same.

Former city Comptroller Bill Thompson trails behind Markowitz, followed by Comptroller John Liu.
