(12/05/07) BROOKLYN &舑; It didn&舗;t make the grade, and now East New York High School for Public Safety and Law will close its doors.
The school is among six in the city set to close after scoring poorly on progress reports released by Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Schools Chancellor Joel Klein. It will no longer accept incoming classes and will eventually be replaced by another school.
Bloomberg and Klein say performance history, not just poor grades on the progress reports, are responsible for the closures. However, critics argue the reports weigh standardized tests too heavily in their evaluations.
