A first-of-its-kind housing complex intended to house those affected by natural disasters is coming to Brooklyn.

The Urban Post-Disaster Housing Prototype is a $1.5 million project funded by FEMA and New York City. It will be the first shipping container-based model of its kind and will house people either temporarily or permanently, should they be displaced from their homes following a disaster.
