Power back on at Brownsville buildings after two-week outage

BROWNSVILLE - The lights are back on at 661 and 663 Powell St. Thursday after tenants say they were without electricity for two weeks.Residents of the Brownsville buildings say landlord Howard Stern, of Renaissance Realty, is responsible for the outages. They say he has a history of not paying the electric bill; News 12 Brooklyn contacted Con Edison who confirmed the allegations. Stern, however, denies this saying Con Ed does not have the proper infrastructure to support his buildings. The Department of Housing Preservation and Development says the properties have more than 30 open violations, including violations for no electricity supply.
