FLATLANDS - Electricity is returning after a power outage in the Flatlands left around 1,000 people without power today.

The power outage started at around 1 p.m. and lasted nearly 2 hours after fuses at a substation blew around Avenue L and 37th Street, according to Con Edison.

Businesses in the area said that the power outage hurt sales because no one wants to shop in a dark store.
